Weakley County Commissioners

Commissioner Eric Owen - District 2
Eric Lyle Owen was first elected in 1998 to serve on the Weakley County Commission for District 2. As commissioner for Weakley County he has served on several committees. He is now serving on the Finance, Ways, and Means Committee, the Health, Education, Welfare and Economic Development Committee, the Beer Board, and the Rules Committee.
He is a lifetime resident of Gleason. Commissioner Owen is active in his community, school, and church. Commissioner Owen is a 1978 graduate of Gleason School and graduated from Bethel College with a BS in Applied Mathematics and Chemistry. He was an honor student in high school and college. He is self-employed in a family agricultural business. He cultures the land with corn, wheat, and soybeans.
Commissioner Owen is a strong supporter of the youth in Weakley County and tries to be involved in youth activities. He was a volunteer high school softball coach for eight years. He is now actively coaching in the Gleason Little League Program. He was a strong supporter of the development of the schools in the county and updating the facilities to move the youth forward to be successful adults in the county. He believes the youth is the future of Weakley County.
Commissioner Owen has been an active member of the Tumbling Creek Baptist Church as a Sunday School Teacher and member of the Financial Budget Committee. He believes strongly in family unity, which he shows by spending most of his time with his four children and wife. He supports his children in sports, educational activities and high moral standards. He is the proud father of Erica, Ellen, Sam and James Owen. His wife, Doris Owen, is a teacher for Gleason School.
