Gordon Morris, District 4

Gordon Morris began his school board service in 1987. He is a Master School Board Member (Level 5) in the TSBA Boardsmanship Program. He has served as chairman of the Weakley County Board of Education since 1992. Mr. Morris has been a member of the TSBA Board of Directors for several years and is serving as President of the Tennessee School Boards Association (2004). He was recognized as recipient of the C. Hal Henard Distinguished Service Award in 1997 and also selected as a member of the All Tennessee School Board in 1997.

Mr. Morris holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education (Biology) from Bethel College, a Master's Degree in Science Education from Murray State University, and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Botany from the University of Tennessee.
Mr. Morris spent his professional life as an educator. After teaching science eight years in the public schools of Weakley County, he finished his career with thirty-four years as a biology teacher at the University of Tennessee at Martin. He retired in 2001.

Gordon Morris has been active in public life. He served as chairman of the Sharon Public Library for about thirty years. Additionally, he has been involved in the Lion's Club, the Civic Club, the Ruritan Club, Sharon School PTO, and Booster Club.
