District 2: Julia Rich


Julia's Interests:

Julia Dunn Rich was first elected to the Weakley County Commission in 2002. She is currently serving her second term representing District 2 citizens in Gleason, Tennessee. Commissioner Rich currently serves on the Weakley County Nursing Home Committee and the Personnel Committee. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Education Committee.

Commissioner Rich is a strong supporter of education; she has worked for the Weakley County Board of Education for the last 38 years. She is Director of the Weakley County Center for Adult and Continuing Education and has served as the county supervisor of the adult education programs and has served in this capacity for over twenty years. Previously, Commissioner Rich taught English and drama for sixteen years at Dresden High School. She is an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Sorority, the Commission of Adult Basic Education (COABE) and the Tennessee Association of Adult & Continuing Education (TAACE). She is presently on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Association of Adult and Continuing Education representing West Tennessee. She is also a former state president of TAACE.

Commissioner Rich is a graduate of Gleason High School. She continued her education receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from Bethel College and a Masters of Science degree from Murray State University and 45 hours above the Masters from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Commissioner Rich is an active member of Tumbling Creek Baptist Church where she teaches an adult Sunday School class.

Commissioner Rich resides at 3320 State Route # 22 in Gleason. She is the mother of three children: Bradley Rich, Stacey Blackburn, and Brittany Hughes all residents of Gleason. She has four grandchildren.
