Commissioner Taylor served 16 years in city governement. First being elected alderman for the City of Martin, TN from 1986-1992. He was elected Mayor of Martin, a part time position, in 1992 and served until 2002. During his tenure as Martin Mayor he served on the Regional Planning Commission, Economic & Community Development Board, Finance Committee and Weakley County Chamber of Commerce. He served as President of the West Tennessee Mayor's Association in 2001.
Since his retirement in 2004, Taylor has worked as an affiliate real estate broker with Fuller Partners Real Estate in Martin.
Taylor graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a B.S. Degree in Business and served four years in the United States Air Force. He is a member of the Martin Masonic Lodge #551, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of Central Baptist Church where he serves as church treasurer.
Commissioner Taylor and his wife Pat reside at 111 Oakwood Drive in Martin. They are the parents of two daughters, Leigh Nanney of Paris and Lynn Vincent of Martin. They have four grandchildren, Drake and Katie Vincent and Taylor Beth and Emily Jewell Nanney.
