County Commissioner Mac Buckley - District 7
|
Mac Buckley was elected to the Weakley County Commission in 1992. Commissioner Buckley currently serves as chairman pro tem of the Commission, chairman of the Weakley County Nursing Home Committee, vice-chairman of the Health, Education, & Welfare Committee, and is member of the Rules Committee.
Commissioner Buckley is a strong supporter of education. He retired from the Tennessee Department of Education after serving forty years in public education. He is a life member of the National Education Association and the Tennessee Education Association and a former member of the Board of Directors of TEA.
He received a B. S. degree from Indiana State University and a M. A. degree from Memphis State University. In 1943, Buckley entered the U. S. Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific for three years during WWII. Commissioner Buckley is very active in volunteer work at Volunteer Community Hospital and at Martin Elementary School. He is a member of the Gardner Church of Christ.

Commissioner Buckley and his wife Shirley are the proud parents of two children and three grandsons. The Buckleys reside at 324 Gardner Road in Martin.
