School Board Commissioner Steve Vantrese - District 6
|
Steven W. "Steve" Vantrease is the school board member representing District 6 citizens in Martin, Tennessee. Vantrease serves on the Weakley County School Board since his appointment in 2000 to fill a vacated position. He was since re-elected to the post in 2002 and serves on the Board's Finance Committee and Chairs the Planning Committee. Vantrease holds a Boardsmanship Level II certification awarded by the Tennessee School Board Association.
Vantrease grew-up in Nashville, Tennessee and now makes his home in Martin after attending The University of Tennessee at Martin and earning two degrees: a BS in Business Administration (Finance) and a MS in Education Administration.
Vantrease is employed by The University of Tennessee at Martin in the capacity of Director of the Boling University Center.

Vantrease is active in many community activities and interests. He serves in volunteer and leadership capacities in the following organizations: United Ways of Weakley County and West Tennessee; Tennessee Soybean Festival; and LIFELINE Blood Services, blood donor and county board member.
Vantrease is a member of the Martin Breakfast Optimist Club, the Weakley County Chamber of Commerce, and the American Legion Post 55 in Martin. Vantrease also supports public television through donations and volunteer work with WLJT-TV and school athletics via the Westview High School Booster Club. Vantrease supports The University through donations to Vanguard Theater and Skyhawk Club where he holds a board position and is a member of the Captains Club. Additional University service is provided by being a member of the Board of Governors of the U.T. National Alumni Association. Vantrease serves UTM students through his positions as advisors to the Student Government Association and Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity; and being a Community Board member for Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.
Steve Vantrease has been married for 26 years and has two daughters. He is an active member and volunteer worker for his church, Martin First United Methodist Church.
