about THIS COMMISSIONER:
David Moore was appointed as commissioner for the 5th District on March 16, 2026.
Moore has worked for the University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service since 2019 as a Police Management Consultant with the Municipal Technical Advisory Service. Prior to that, he worked in the private sector and taught criminal justice in the Department of Behavioral Sciences at the University of Tennessee at Martin. He retired from the City of Martin as Chief of Police after a law enforcement career spanning from 1989 to 2015.
Moore resides in Martin with his wife, Lisa. They have two daughters, two sons-in-law, and three grandchildren, all of whom also live in Martin.
The Moore family faithfully attends First Baptist Church in Martin Tennessee.
