ABOUT THE HEALTH, EDUCATION, AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

In accordance with the Weakley County Rules of the Commission, the Weakley County Health, Education, and Economic Development [HEED] Committee is a subcommittee of the Weakley County Commission that shall have authority to consider all matters concerning public health, education, and any matter dealing with the general operation of the county, especially with reference to the budget allocation to various departments of government dealing with these matters including the health department, the various social, cultural and recreational services, economic and community development services, agricultural and natural resources, veteran's services, elections, libraries and all operations of the Weakley County School System. This committee shall have the duty and authority to make recommendations and oversee the construction, remodeling or purchasing of county buildings and property except roads, bridges, and the county jail. This committee shall have the authority to make recommendations about the maintenance of all county buildings, except the county jail and public works facilities. The committee shall have oversight of all school system activities and shall consist of seven (7) members different from Finance, Ways, and Means Committee members.
